Textile Museum offers space to store historic documents from Almonte Registry Office

Mississippi Mills resident Marilyn Snedden alerted the Millstone to the provincial government’s plan to ship precious Lanark County real estate documents to an undisclosed location, in this Millstone article.

Although it was hoped that the Perth Museum could come to the rescue as outlined in this article in yourOttawaregion.com, the Perth Museum does not have the space to do so. The Mississippi Valley Textile Museum has offered space, however, Marilyn Snedden has said that it would be best to the leave the records where they are, at the Registry Office. Mississippi Mills mayor John Levi said that the local council had not been told of the plans to move the documents from the registry office.
