If you are seeking a rewarding volunteer experience, consider the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor.
“Volunteering at the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor gives more to me than I give to the organization,” volunteer Maureen Bartholomew says when asked what she gets out of her role.
“I enjoy interacting with the patients so much.”
Maureen recently joined the 335 volunteers who contribute in so many ways to the quality of care and services provided to Hospital patients and Manor residents.
“We have several volunteer positions available that we are recruiting for,” says Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Volunteer Coordinator Anne McRae.
Positions are available in the recreation program for the Hospital’s Rosamond Unit. Available spots include Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. to support the music program and Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. to support bingo.
The Hospital Gift Shop, located in the lobby of 75 Spring Street, has volunteer positions available Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. and Thursdays from 4-6 p.m.
If you would like to deliver water and juice to Hospital in-patients, a position is available Fridays from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
The Physiotherapy department needs a volunteer Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon.
Relief volunteer positions to porter Manor residents and Hospital patients to appointments in the hair salon are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until noon.
All volunteers receive training and orientation before beginning their duties.
“Please contact us if you can help out in any of these positions or if you would like to explore other ways you can volunteer at the Hospital and Manor,” says Anne McRae.
“Our volunteers tell us that helping the patients, residents and staff is very satisfying.”
