Effective today,  Mississippi Mills is implementing a complete ban on watering of lawns and/or gardens in the Almonte Ward due to  pressures on groundwater aquifers. Residents and business owners must cease watering activities immediately. The ban covers using water from the Almonte water system to water lawns, gardens, boulevards or other plots of land by hoses or pipes. Town Clerk Diane Smithson confirmed that people may water hanging baskets and potted plants using a watering can rather than a hose.

Town staff will be enforcing the watering ban immediately and fines may be issued where non compliance is observed.

Any questions or concerns relating to the current ban may be directed to the Town by calling 613-256-2064 Ext. 258.
