cavanagh hostas

Only a small part of the amazing shade garden of Barbara Cavanagh is visible from the highway at 3941 County Road 29 but it continues along the waterway under a canopy of trees. She has over 70 varieties of hostas from miniatures to magnificent giant specimens, interspersed with colourful heucheras.  A row of Viburnum Lantana frames a collection of semperiums, peonies, and other perennials to provide continuous bloom all summer.  Mulching everything keeps good weed control as well as preserving moisture for the shade plants.
