Gail and Gerry Murphy are the proud gardeners at 9 Tatra Street in Almonte. They were nominated by Angie and Rob Acheson. A cozy nook on the porch with comfy wicker chairs and garden art welcomes guests to set a while. The hummingbirds are encouraged to visit their feeder and birdbaths provide a water source. Some garden beds are nicely framed with inlaid stone and others are mulched with cedar. A colourful arrangement of perennial bushes including barberry, evergreens, hydrangea, and potentilla are interspersed with sedum autumn joy, hosta, peonies and native plants including black-eyed susan and purple coneflower. Some walls are draped with clematis. The colour is carried throughout by annuals in pots and beds including red dipladenia, geraniums and begonias and pink and yellow strawflowers. An appealing garden that beautifies their neighbourhood.
This is the final Yard of the Week entry for 2015. We will carry forward into 2016 all nominations that have been made to date. The Almonte and District Horticultural Society would like to thank all of our winners, nominators, volunteer judges and the Beautification Committee of the Town of Mississippi Mills for their contribution to the gift bags. Happy gardening!
