5 Wednesdays in July concert series

Friends of Augusta Street Park volunteers have once again come together to create a summer tradition that has become a highlight of the season for many in our community.

The beloved 5 Wednesdays in July concert series returns this summer with another outstanding lineup of local and regional talent, inviting neighbours, friends, and families to gather in Augusta Street Park for evenings of music, connection, and community spirit.
This year, the series will skip the first Wednesday, July 1, so everyone can enjoy the Canada Day festivities taking place at Gemmill Park. Instead, music lovers can mark their calendars for July 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Now in its many years of bringing people together, 5 Wednesdays in July continues to offer free, family-friendly entertainment in a welcoming and inclusive setting. It’s a chance to slow down in the middle of a busy work week, spread out a lawn chair or blanket, reconnect with neighbours, and enjoy live music under the summer sky.

The series is made possible through the dedication of community volunteers, local sponsors, and the generosity of those who choose to “pass the hat” each week. Donations collected throughout the concerts help support the festival and contribute to the completion of the citizen-led park plan, including a memorial water feature honouring the Cole family, who tragically lost children in a devastating neighbourhood fire in 1965. Friends of Augusta Street Park continue to work closely with the Town of Mississippi Mills on this meaningful project.

This year’s musical lineup promises something for everyone.

The series opens on Wednesday, July 8, with Dr. Brown’s Uptown Travelling Medicine Show, featuring performances by Hannah Affleck, Tulia Sullivan, and Anne Gauthier.
On July 15, audiences can enjoy Spencer Scharf at 6 p.m., followed by Nick Straccini at 7 p.m.

The music continues on July 22 with the beautiful voice of Amanda Cottreau, followed by the Paco Dvoi Altfolk Trio.

The final evening, July 29, begins with Don Bray before the 2026 series closes with a performance by Zachary Martin.

Adding to the festive atmosphere each week, the Almonte Civitan Club will be on site offering food for purchase, including burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and refreshments.
From folk and country to rock this year’s lineup reflects the diversity and creativity that make the series so special.

Community groups are also invited to be part of the experience. Arts organizations, environmental groups, social enterprises, and others working to build community are welcome to set up a table and share information about their initiatives.

“We run on a shoestring budget, supported by community volunteers and a handful of generous sponsors,” say the organizers. “We couldn’t do it without them.”
Special thanks go to the Town of Mississippi Mills, the Almonte Civitan Club, and Carebridge Community Support for their continued support.

Whether you come for the music, the company, the food, or simply the joy of being together, there’s a place for you in Augusta Street Park this July.
Bring a chair, bring a friend, and we’ll see you in Augusta. No concert if raining.

Only 4 Wednesdays this year. Wed July 1 is Canada Day in Gemmill Park.
