Mississippi Mills Mayor John Levi and his wife Helen invited six area artists to join them at their table at the Young Awards Gala last Saturday evening. Artists Sam and Linda Hamilton, Amanda Sears, Ryan Loteck, Kelly Sloan and Sarah Moffatt joined the Levis at their table. Sarah Moffatt donated two of her art pieces to the auction, adding several hundred dollars to the fund raising.
Young awards winner this year are Pakenham clothing designer Paddye Mann for Cultural Achievement and Al and Glenda Jones for Cultural Volunteerism.
Perhaps this generous gesture will encourage other attendees to invite artists to their table at this once-a-year event. It is a fitting way to show appreciation for the local artists who enrich this community.
