Debra Tate-Sears is a traditional landscape artist, with a unique approach to the watercolour medium. Using a limited palette of colours, she starts her paintings with pale washes, and builds upon transparent layers to a desired intensity and detail. Debra has a fascination with atmosphere and emotion in the landscape, and the interpretation of light in a transparent medium. Debra uses the British heritage landscape of Eastern Ontario, and 19th Century British artists John Girtin and John Sell-Cotman for inspiration.
