This year’s Almonte Celtfest takes place July 10-12, 2015, beginning with Pub Night on Friday, and continuing with an amazing line-up of Celtic music and dance the rest of the weekend in the natural amphitheatre of Gemmill Park, in Almonte. Nothing is more important to the support of Celtfest than its sponsors and volunteers…we simply cannot put on the show without you!
As we approach the busiest time of executing our plans, we are once again in need of volunteers to make it happen. A small dedicated group of volunteers and one paid festival assistant have already worked hard to organize a great festival, but now comes the time when we need the community to step forward to help on the weekend of the festival.
If you have not heard about this year’s line-up yet, go to our website at AlmonteCeltfest.com, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. We hope that Almonte Celtfest is on your summer calendar of events not to miss!
Call for Volunteers
We need a myriad of people of all ages, 13 years and up, to help with the event in areas such as, but not limited to:
- working with children in the Little Celtz tent
- working in the Senior’s Tent
- assisting with set-up and take-down of the stage and other equipment
- working at the gate admissions
- selling raffle tickets on site
- surveying the attendees about their experience of Celtfest
- parking
- working at the Information and Merchandise booth
There is a job for everyone, for as much or as little time as you have to share. Besides earning a Celtfest t-shirt and VIP pass, you will meet wonderful people and have a great time being a part of all the fun! Volunteer training and a welcome BBQ is planned for Thursday July 9th at 6 pm in Gemmill Park, where you will obtain a t-shirt, orientate to your role, and enjoy meeting other volunteers and staff in the excitement of pre-festival fervor. [Contingency plans to orient volunteers who cannot attend the BBQ are in place.] Time commitment to volunteering is based on the availability of the volunteer, and can be scheduled accordingly for either or both of the days of the festival, or for the Pub Night.
For more information and/or to volunteer, please contact Trish Sawers at tin_ceilings@yahoo.ca, or Cathie at almonteceltfest@hotmail.com.
Call for Vendors
Perhaps you are interested in an opportunity to enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the Almonte Celtfest while promoting your business! Celtfest is looking for artisan vendors to set up their own tent on the Gemmill Park grounds on Saturday and Sunday July 11 and 12, at a weekend cost of $150. The deadline for applications has been extended to June 15, 2015, so if this opportunity interests you, please contact Elizabeth at vendors.almonteceltfest@hotmail.com, or Cathie, almonteceltfest@hotmail.com (vendors in the subject heading)
Call for Buskers
We also have opportunities for buskers to entertain with Celtic music and dance on the streets of Almonte during the weekend festival. Buskers provide an opportunity for festival attenders to expand their experience of our unique and friendly community while they stroll on Mill Street, and visit the businesses who are integral in their support of our festival and our town. If you are interested in busking, please contact Jane at jane.hans@sympatico.ca for more information, and an audition.
It takes a community to support an event like the Almonte Celtfest, and for 19 years we have counted on the amazing contributions of everyone who volunteers to make it happen! Looking forward to seeing you there to be part of this amazing venture once again.
