The Holy Name of Mary Syrian Refugee Committee has raised sufficient funds through pledges and donations to begin the process of bringing a Syrian refugee family of four, including two young children, to the Almonte area.

According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada, it takes approximately $25,000 to support a sponsored family for the first 12 months of their stay in Canada. This sponsorship was made possible through the generosity of parishioners and community members who will begin the process of bringing the family to this area and supporting their transition once they arrive. For example, support will be needed to find accommodation for the family, furnishings, transportation for medical and other appointments, etc.

We extend our appreciation to members of the Syrian Refugee Committee of Mississippi Mills and the Kanata Holy Redeemer Parish refugee committee leaders for their support and insights into what can be a complicated process.
