A hawk and its prey

Attached is a photo of a sharp-shinned hawk atop one of our bird feeders having lunch with a goldfinch caught in our yard.  As I watched I could not believe the speed of this hawk as it hid under a small bush and then flew out attacking this poor little fellow.

As they say, it’s a jungle out there.
