Gerry Huddleston, the 59-year-old former executive director of the Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Foundation, was sentenced today in Perth to a 12-month conditional sentence, followed by two years of probation.
Mr. Huddleston was convicted last November of the theft of $4,000 and of forging a document, in relation to the disappearance of money from a hospital fundraiser.
Justice Peter Wright said, “The victim was a community charity, not a commercial enterprise […] or financial institution. When Mr. Huddleston steals from the foundation, he steals from the community and donors. The harm done to the community is incalculable.”
