With heavy hearts, the family announces that following a lengthy yet valiant journey through cancer, Michael passed away peacefully at the Almonte General Hospital while surrounded by family on Wednesday morning, September 16, 2026. Michael Thompson of Pakenham was 80 years of age. Beloved and proud Dad of Brad (Stacie), Rod (Erin Higgins) and Farrah (Darren Frenette). Cherished and forever loved Grandpa of Grayson Thompson (Victoria Smith), Marin Thompson, Declan Thompson, Wayland Thompson, Keegan Frenette and Isla Frenette. Dear brother of Joan Hodgson (Barry). Predeceased by 2 brothers: Rodney (late Betty) and Ian as well as a sister, Christine Thompson (David). Mike is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who became like family over the years.
He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, generosity, and the love he had for his family and friends. His presence touched the lives of so many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior. Friends may share their memories of Michael during a visitation on Thursday morning, September 24th from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. A Tribute to Michael will take place in the Pilon Family Chapel the same day at 11 o’clock. A reception will follow.
