Almonte and District High School’s senior boy’s basketball team plays its first game Monday afternoon at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championship series in Woodstock, Ontario.
The team won its spot after triumphing at the EOSSAA championship at North Dundas District High School in Chesterville last month, taking the gold with a 51-29 win over Kemptville’s St. Michael Catholic High School.
The team’s head coach Kevin Lee played for Almonte in OFSSA wins in 1986 and 1987. In an article in Inside Ottawa Valley he said, “I know they’re super excited to represent their community — the hometown of basketball.”
