ADHS students seek funding for Vimy anniversary trip

On April 9th, 1917, Canadians fought and died at the battle of Vimy Ridge, the battle that many historians credit with establishing Canada’s identity. History was made.

18 students from Almonte and District High School want to make their own history, together with Ms. Packham and Mme. Jones, by attending the 100th anniversary celebrations at Vimy Ridge. This experience will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Other stops on the itinerary include Paris, the Loire Valley and Normandy.

Upcoming fundraising events include:

  • Coffee House and Silent Auction at the Almonte Old Town Hall on Thursday, October 27th at 7:00pm
  • Trivia Afternoon at The Glen in Stittsville on Sunday, November 22nd November 20 at 3:00pm
  • Dart Tournament at the Almonte Legion (date to be determined).

This trip will be an amazing experience for both the students and teachers attending.

Support from the community to help make this trip more affordable is greatly appreciated. Please contact Paula Jones (paula.jones@ucdsb.on.ca) at the school for ticket purchases or more information.
