It is with profound sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Andrew (Andy) David Wilson, 74, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Almonte General Hospital.
Born on April 20, 1951 in Toronto, Ontario, Andy Wilson was a loving husband of 44 years to Pamela Ann Wilson and a devoted father to Bradley Andrew Wilson (predeceased in 2023). Andy is also preceded by his parents and sister Caroline Headdon.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Wilson; his nephews Joshua Slater, Peter Slater, Joshua Headdon, Shaun Headdon; and Keri Brownridge (nee Headdon), and his wonderful great-nephews.
Andy Wilson was an accomplished competitive rifle shooter and was a member of the Canadian Rifle Team (Halifax) and then continued as an inspiring Coach for the Team, travelling to Mexico and Europe for elite competitions.
He was also a Scout Leader for many years with his son Bradley and then continued at Scout Headquarters in Ottawa. He earned the lifelong nickname of “Scouter Andy” and enjoyed the many camping and canoeing trips, primarily in Algonquin Park.
He also loved golfing and spent many years as a member of the Metcalfe Golf Club (Metcalfe, Ontario). He picked up fly fishing late in his life and really appreciated the many solitary hours in the streams and the many fishing trips to Vermont with his wife.
At his request, there will be no funeral service or Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, in memory of his beloved son Bradley who struggled with severe mental health issues. For more information, please visit cmhastarttalking.ca/donate or call 705-726-5033. Be sure to indicate that your gift is in memory of Andy Wilson.
The family wishes to thank the amazing and dedicated staff at the Almonte General Hospital, who helped us through this overwhelming process. The family is also very grateful for the many friends and family members who have reached out to offer support at this very difficult time.
