1.  Francis Dickens was the 3rd son of British novelist Charles Dickens.  He spent 12 years with the Northwest Mounted Police mostly in Alberta.

3.  Stan Rogers, who died tragically young in an airplane fire, wrote ‘Northwest Passage’, one Canada’s  greatest folk songs.  When broadcaster Peter Gzowski asked listeners what should be Canada’s national song, it won hands down.
