1. The Dinaric Alps are the southeastern range of the Alps, ranging from northern Italy along the Adriatic coast as far south as northern Albania.
2. Sea otters hold hands while sleeping primarily to avoid drifting apart in the water.
3. Flin Flon comes from the name Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin, a character in a 1905 paperback novel, Sunless City, by Preston Muddock. Flonatin discovers a city in a hole in the bottom of a lake, where the ”norms of society are backwards”.
4. Canada Day is celebrated on July 2nd only if July 1st falls on a Sunday.
5. The world’s second largest diamond, weighing 2492 carats, was discovered last year in Botswana at a mine owned by the Canadian firm, Lucara Diamond Corporation. The Cullinan Diamond is the world’s largest so far, weighing 3,106 carats.
