On Monday afternoon, Steve and Claire Falsetto of Almonte’s Cafe Postino hosted a private gathering of over 40 campaign volunteers, supporters and friends to celebrate Shaun McLaughlin’s successful bid for Mayor of Mississippi Mills.
In a brief speech, Shaun pledged to make the most of the four years ahead. He said Council is off to a quick start on key issues, such as working to save the Appleton Wetland, and he has already begun building bridges on Council, in the community, and at Queen’s Park with provincial politicians who affect local issues.
Shaun’s campaign team mingled in the grand, high-ceiling restaurant and sampled tasty edibles prepared by Chef Steve. Niagara area winery, Pond View, provided a selection of red and white wine, while Ottawa-based Broadhead Brewing Company poured samples of their amber and white ales.
Shaun presented Steve and Claire with a signed copy of his recent novel, “Dark Southern Sun”, and toasted them for conceiving of and hosting the gathering. He also thanked the guests for their hard work during the mayoral campaign.
