NewsCarleton Place eases winter parking restrictions

Carleton Place eases winter parking restrictions

Carleton place will implement new partking restriction for the coming winter system. The restriction are similar to those in place in the City of Ottawa. Instead of a total ban on winter street parking, restrictions will only apply  when an Environment Canada forecasts a snowfall of 7 cm. or more. This will include forecasts that can for a range of snowfall the upper end of which is over 7 cm (e.g. 5-10 cm.). If the ban is in place, parking will be prohibited on all town streets between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. to allow for snow clearing. Vehicles found parked during a ban will be ticketed and towed to a nearby street.

A total ban ban on parking on streets where snow removal operations are taking place remains in effect. Signage will be placed on streets prior to snow removal in order to give people time to remove their vehicles.

Town staff have been directed to determine the most efficient means to notify the public when a parking ban has been issued. This will include notification being posted on the municipal website (http://www.carletonplace.ca/) and citizens are urged to check this website if in doubt. Additionally, since the system mirrors Ottawa's, residents should monitor local television and radio and if there is a parking ban in Ottawa, then there is also a ban in effect in Carleton Place.
