Union Hall is pleased to be hosting its fifth annual Community Builders’ Craft Fair, on Saturday, November 15, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The hall will be joining forces with other charities and non-profits to raise awareness of their important work and to bring in much-needed cash for their operations. Get a head start on your Christmas shopping while helping these community builders!
This year we will be providing a light homemade lunch at reasonable prices. Take a break in the hall’s cozy atmosphere and enjoy hot soup and other goodies, all homemade, cold drinks, tea and Stir It Up blend Equator coffee.
The Union Hall Community Centre, which was erected in 1857, is maintained and operated by volunteers. A Registered Charity, the hall is funded through hall and sign rentals, donations, and craft sales, with financial assistance from Mississippi Mills and the Hub. Handcrafted hardwood cutting boards, along with items sewn from re-purposed fabric, such as one-of-a-kind yoga mat bags, tote bags and aprons, will be sold to support ongoing renovations at the hall. We are proud to announce that for the first time in its history, the hall will be open throughout the winter of 2025-2026.
The Hub in Almonte sells gently used merchandise for every shopper at very reasonable prices. All profits are donated to community projects and to our friends and neighbours who need a helping hand. The Hub will be selling jewelry, books, dolls, vintage toys and high-quality household items at this event. The Hub has graciously offered to donate the proceeds from this day’s sale to Union Hall!
The Mississippi Valley Textile Museum is a Registered Charity that engages in diverse, inclusive storytelling about the textile industry’s profound effects on people, workers, and the natural world. Their safe, welcoming, and open spaces feature historical, contemporary, and artistic displays, inviting visitors to connect with their shared history and with each other. The Museum will be selling a variety of items, including a selection from local fibre artists — perfect gifts for the holiday season!
Stir It Up Collective is a non-profit organization based in Lanark County, with the goal of supporting peoples’ recovery from sex trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation. Partnering with other community agencies and businesses, SIUC works to increase awareness of this issue and educate people, especially young people, on how to identify risks and stay safe. They will be selling SIUC-labelled whole bean coffee from Equator Coffee Roasters, as well as handmade wooden meditation benches and hand-crafted bags donated by a community member.
