Lanark Highlands men facing drug and weapons charges

(Lanark Highlands, Ontario) – On Monday August 31^st, 2015, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by members of Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.) Search Warrant which led to the arrest of 2 men from the Township of Lanark Highlands.

During the investigation the following items were seized:

• Quantities of cannabis (marijuana), psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and cocaine.
• 11 firearms (1 loaded)
• Two high-capacity firearm magazines
• 9 cannabis (marijuana) plants

Douglas SCHONAUER (37) of Lanark Highlands Township (ON) is charged with;

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II Substance under 3 kgs-Cannabis (marijuana)
• Possession of a Schedule II Substance over 30 grams –Cannabis (marijuana)
• Possession of a Schedule III Substance- Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms)
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
• Production of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis (marijuana)
• Careless Storage of a Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
• Possession of a Prohibited Device-High Capacity Magazine

David SCHONAUER (68) of Lanark Highlands Township (ON) is charged with:

• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II Substance under 3 kgs-Cannabis (marijuana)
• Possession of a Schedule II Substance over 30 grams –Cannabis (marijuana)
• Possession of a Schedule III Substance- Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms)
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
• Production of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis (marijuana)
• Careless Storage of a Firearm
• Possession of a Prohibited Device-High Capacity Magazine

Both were released from custody, and are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Perth, October 19^th, 2015.
