A new exhibition at the Almonte Public Library is worth a look. Long time Almonte resident Neil Carleton, scientist, educator, museum consultant, short wave radio enthusiast and endlessly curious, passionate and beloved teacher has delved into his archives to bring forward works of art that he has made over time. He has a great love of the natural world and is an authority on the geology of the area. He is the spirit behind the Almonte Geoheritage Park where the Mississippi River turns toward Blakeney. He has collected stamps. And all of this he has brought together in collage works which currently grace the walls of the library. The exhibition is curated by Ingrid Kadoke.
The works are vivid and eclectic and many are for sale.
And as a good educator he has prepared collage kits for sale. A great pandemic hobby.
