Susan Low-Beer at Sivarulrasa Gallery

An installation in Gallery II, Sept 29 to Nov 5, 2021

Sivarulrasa Gallery, Almonte, Ontario

Artist Talk & Virtual Vernissage: Tuesday October 12, 7:00pm-8:00pm.

From September 29 to November 5, Sivarulrasa Gallery is pleased to present SUSAN LOW-BEER: PASSAGES, an immersive installation by artist Susan Low-Beer that explores the relationship between the physical and the metaphysical. The installation can be viewed in-person during our regular Gallery hours, Tuesdays to Sundays 11am-5pm.

“A ladder, metaphorically, can connect Earth and Sky, be a link between matter and spirit, a corridor between the physical and the metaphysical world. Ladders are potent symbols of change and transcendence, a conduit between ignorance and wisdom, a passage from darkness to light.” – Susan Low-Beer

Susan Low-Beer’s work is concerned with the human condition. Working with clay and other media, her work explores the psychological and archetypal aspects of the human experience. Over the past four decades, she has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Her work is held in numerous public collections, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Modern Art in Japan, the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in North Carolina, the Mississauga Art Gallery and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, as well as private collections in Canada and internationally. In 1999 she received the Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in the Crafts and in 2000 was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

Artist Talk & Virtual Vernissage: Tuesday October 12, 7:00pm-8:00pm. Artist Susan Low-Beer will join us live via Zoom to talk about her installation. You can join us from the comfort of your home through a video link that can be accessed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Please email us at and we will send you the link.
