It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the passing of Thomas George Bamford. Loving husband for 57 years of Lynne Bamford (nee Wilkinson). Dear father of Mark Bamford, partner Judy Reese, and Daniel Bamford, wife Lisa (nee Coolen). Also survived by granddaughters Jessa and Melanie, and his loving sister Dyanne Sicluna (Dennis Sicluna, predeceased) of Mississauga also grieves his passing. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Elbert Bamford and Catherine (nee Smyth) of Hamilton.
Tom was born in Hamilton Ontario, and retired from Proctor and Gamble, Hamilton Plant in 1985. He and Lynne moved to their dream home on Clayton Lake in 2005 to be close to their sons and beautiful granddaughters. Tom loved his time with them and they will feel his absence.
Church has always been an integral part of Tom and Lynne’s life while living in Mt. Hope, Ontario so they sought and found a connection in Clayton at St. George’s Anglican Church. The congregation has meant a lot to Tom and Lynne during the last two years of his journey through esophageal cancer and subsequent complications. He was determined to get better and was aware of their support and the prayers of family and friends.
Tom and Lynne’s love of animals led them into breading and showing English Cocker Spaniels in 1984 where they met and became friends with many wonderful people. Annual puppy picnics with pontoon boat rides were held at their home. His many hobbies included a love of old cars. With much pride he showed off his 1927 Model T at cruise nights whenever he wasn’t fishing with his family. Tom was also passionate about model trains and set up an intricate display that took up a whole room. He also enjoyed the remote sailboat hobby and dabbled in archery. Running through his life interests was always the love he had for his family.A service will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Clayton, Ontario, officiated by Fr. Robert Sicard. An opportunity to visit with the family will be provided in the church one hour prior to the service and at the lunch following.
A service for the interment of the ashes will be held at a family plot in the Greenwood Cemetery in Burlington, the date yet to be determined. This will provide an opportunity for lifelong friends in the Hamilton area to offer their respects.’
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do an act of kindness because this was part of who Tom was.
