Ford, Janet Wendy
November 14, 1945 – February 24, 2025
It is with great sadness the family of Wendy Ford (nee Leishman) announces her passing on February 24, 2025, age 79 at Almonte General Hospital.
Wendy lived a life filled with love, joy, and resilience. She spent her career as a Radiation Therapist at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa.
Almonte was always her home. She was a longtime member of the board for Auld Kirk Cemetery, and over the years a member or volunteer of various groups in Mississippi Mills.
She had a fondness for animals and a love for travel.
Wendy will be missed by her sons Toby (Pam) and Jeremy, and her brother John Leishman (Carol-Ann). She will always be Nanny to her grandsons Wesley and Spencer.
She is preceded by her husband James Ford, her parents Borden Leishman, Charlotte (nee Evers) Thurston and stepfather Britt Thurston, and her brother Robert Leishman.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum.
In recognition of the exceptional care Wendy received from all areas of the Almonte Hospital on her journey with Parkinson’s Disease and Kidney Disease, donations can be made to the Almonte General Hospital-FVM Foundation.
