Oh my gosh. Do you know what’s only six months away? That’s when the Puppets Up! International Puppet Festival returns to the most puppet-friendly streets in all the land – downtown Almonte – on August 8th and 9th, and we can barely contain our excitement!
Before you know it, the town will be absolutely bursting with theatres, tents, puppets, puppeteers, musicians, street entertainers, market vendors, and not one but TWO parades! The whole magical, joyful, wonderful festival is going to happen because of volunteers.
Volunteers like… well… you?
Right now – as you read these very words – committees are meeting, world-class talent from across North America and beyond are packing their puppets, sponsors are stepping up (thank you, thank you, thank you!), tickets are being sold, and tents are being booked. The heat is on, and it’s almost enough to melt the snow. Almost.
Warming up to the idea? Here’s the truly wonderful thing: there is a place for YOU in all of it. We need writers to tell our stories. We need strong, capable humans to build stages and set up stands. We need techies to make the lights shine and the sound soar, MCs to charm the crowds, greeters to welcome the world, and ticket sellers to keep the lines moving! There are no limits to the ways you can be part of the magic.
Whoever you are, whatever your skills, whatever your schedule – we’ll work with you to find a role and a timeline that fits you to a T (did we mention the T-shirts? Yep. There’ll be T-shirts!).
