Carol Thomson — obituary

Thomson, Carol

Born July 20, 1942, in Montreal, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Almonte Hospital, held in the presence of the love she so generously gave throughout her entire life.

Carol was the devoted wife of 63 years to Bob, a partnership built on love, loyalty, and unwavering support. Together, they created a life centered on family, laughter, and deep connection. She was a loving and caring mother to her four children—Jude (Mirla), Kim, Cindy (Mark) and Brent (Alana) — whom she helped raise, guide, and shape into the people they are today. Carol was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren—Evan, Kelly, Kevin, Grayden, Nolan, Taryn, Abbey, and Matt—each of whom brought her immense joy.

Professionally, Carol enjoyed a successful 10-year career in real estate before pursuing her passion by opening her own New England gift store, called Primrose Lane. The shop remained a fond memory for many who knew her.

Carol found joy in golfing, traveling, weekend getaways, and spontaneous day trips. She loved shopping and especially treasured quiet moments in the backyard she and Bob thoughtfully designed together. She also discovered a passion for painting, unveiling a beautiful artistic talent that became a deeply cherished part of who she was leaving behind a collection that now carries her spirit and love forward.

Once retired they moved from Beaconsfield, Montreal, to Almonte, Ontario, in 2006, where they enjoyed their new home and community.

Carol was a wonderful person who truly cherished her family. She was someone you could always turn to—for comfort, for conversation, or simply to feel understood. Her kindness, strength, and love will be remembered and carried forward by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
