Mayor Christa Lowry has sent us this note:
April 30, 2026
To the residents of Mississippi Mills:
I am proud to share that I am standing for re-election as Mayor of Mississippi Mills in the October 2026 election.
Earlier this week, I picked up my nomination package from the Clerk’s Office, a simple moment that served as a powerful reminder of the trust and responsibility that comes with serving this community.
The past few years have brought challenges and opportunities alike, and they have only reinforced my commitment to Mississippi Mills. I am standing for re-election and standing for this community with the same sense of purpose and dedication I felt when I first began this journey.
Mississippi Mills deserves a strong, steady voice that shows up, speaks up, and stands up for our community at all tables where decisions are being made that affect us today or tomorrow. I remain committed to ensuring our residents are well represented, respected, and heard, while protecting the sense of neighbourliness that defines who we are.
My vision of Mississippi Mills includes everyone. Rural and urban residents. Seniors, young people, and families. Farmers, tradespeople, entrepreneurs, commuters, and civil servants. New neighbours, recent immigrants, families that stretch back for generation, and those who have cared for this land for thousands of years. This diversity requires thoughtful leadership, careful planning, and a clear vision.
Until nominations close on August 21, my full focus remains on serving you as your Mayor. Once the official campaign period begins, I will communicate through separate campaign channels, with details to follow in late August.
My goal in public life continues to be grounded in the commitment to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability, get involved wherever I can, and contribute in a positive and meaningful way. Should the people of Mississippi Mills choose to re-elect me on October 26th, it would be a true honour to continue serving you, so that together we can keep our community strong, vibrant, and true to who we are.
Mayor Christa Lowry
Municipality of Mississippi Mills
