It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Lock, under the care of the staff at Almonte Hospital on August 19th, 2026.
Born in Windsor, Ontario June 6th, 1942 as the eldest of nine siblings, he met and married the love of his life and partner of more than 60 years, Elva, and ended up settling in Ottawa where they raised their daughters. Upon welcoming Grandchildren, they became an unwavering source of joy and inspiration until his passing.
John loved life, was an eager and supportive participant in every aspect of his family’s endeavours, and also a life long learner who took pride in a job well done. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, having an open mind, welcoming heart and an ability to see the best in everyone he encountered.
He leaves behind a family who adored him: his wife Elva, daughters Leisa (Brent) and Laura; grandchildren Jessica (Skyler), Brayden, Tom and Falan, as well as cherished siblings and many nieces and nephews.
All who would like to join in celebrating John are welcome to join the family at Gamble’s Funeral Home on September 26th between 1 – 4pm, with tribute at 1:30pm followed by a reception. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Almonte General Hospital.
