Brent has worked in corporate communications for almost forty years, first as a writer in the Prime Minister’s Office and later as a software marketing manager. He moved into website development in 1995, and since 1998 has been a communications advisor at the Bank of Canada. He was also a freelance business journalist for a time.
He looks after the Millstone’s daily operations and writes news, history, editorial and photography pieces for the paper. He also runs the Almonte.com website, and several others for local organizations.
Brent moved to Almonte in 1987 and helped raise his daughters here. Erica was a Millstone contributor before moving to Edinburgh and later Toronto. She now lives in Ottawa and is a media specialist and librarian at Elmwood School in Rockliffe. Rachel is pursuing a Ph.D. at Carleton University.
For six years he was a board member of the Michener Awards, Canada’s most prestigious prize for public service journalism.
