Almonte Amateur Radio Club receives $15,000 Trillium grant

If case of an emergency, local radio amateurs are mobilized by the local authority, who directs operations from the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in the Town of Mississippi Mills or Lanark County depending on the nature of the emergency. Emergency communications can also be provided to neighbouring municipalities on a mutual aid basis. Emergency communications are operated by volunteers under the guidelines of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and the national body, Radio Amateurs of Canada.

In addition to operating in emergency situations the Almonte Amateur Radio Club provides communications for public events including marathons, car rallies, cycle rallies, triathlons, and sports events.
