The Cappies, “Critics and Awards Program,” is a program through which high school theatre student perform plays and and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers. Cappies programs are active  in 14 American and Canadian cities. (from the Cappies website) In the late spring the critics vote for Cappie awards which are presented at a Cappies Gala. In the Ottawa area, the student critiques are published in the Ottawa Citizen.  Almonte District High School  participates in the Cappies and this year performed Romeo and Juliet. It was a hit with the student critics. Read the Ottawa Citizen report here .
