On Saturday, May 5, 2018, dedicated volunteers across the region hit the streets to raise funds for CNIB’s Lake Joseph Centre (Lake Joe). Through the collective efforts of the Lions Clubs of Almonte, Carleton Place, Gananoque and Smiths Falls, and the generosity of our communities, more than $17,500 was raised at the toll roads, with Almonte Lions Club raising $5,300!

Lake Joe brings the magic of summer camp into the lives of people who are blind or partially sighted. Here, people with sight loss and their families can enjoy the same summer pursuits as other Canadians: canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, swimming, sailing and fishing — as well as access to intensive courses that teach necessary life skills, from cooking to mobility. Lake Joe is a place where a kid can be a kid. Visit cnib.ca/LakeJoe to learn more.

CNIB is truly grateful for the efforts of the local Lions Clubs and our communities who are making a lasting impact in the lives of so many.

The Lions Clubs would be happy to share more details about their experience on the day.
