Almonte’s Perianne Jones is retiring from competitive skiing. At  30, she captured her second senior women’s overall title in four years (one gold medal in the classic long sprint, three silver medals). Perianne has been with the Canadian senior cross country ski racing team for 14 years and she feels it is time to begin the next chapter of her life.  She is happy about her decision and is looking forward to entering university next fall and starting a family with her husband Joel Jaques, a wax technician for the team. Perianne hopes to be part of the Ottawa Race Weekend May 24 and run the Ottawa Marathon with her father Brad Jones, who plants to run his 35th Ottawa Marathon.
