- Gerald Bull was a Canadian artillery engineer who in 1990 was assassinated in Brussels. At the time, he had agreed to work on a re-design of the SCUD missile for the Iraqis, and it was at first speculated that either the Iranians or the Israelis were responsible for his death. At the time, Bull was also working on the PC2 for Iraq: a 150 meter long gun weighing 2,100 tonnes.
- Eratosthenes was the first person to calculate the circumference of the earth, and also to calculate the tilt of the earth’s axis. He became the Chief Librarian of the Library at Alexandria. He made many other contributions to wisdom, as the founder of scientific chronology, and, in numbers theory, he introduced the Sieve of Eratosthenes, an efficient method of identifying prime numbers.
