APPLETON STUDIO ART CLASSES
October – November 2016

Open Studio sessions:
Tuesdays: 9:30am – noon, eight weeks starting October 4th, $250
Tuesdays: 1pm – 3:30pm, eight weeks starting October 4th, $250
These sessions are for students with some previous art experience. As an open-studio participant, you have the option of instruction in painting techniques and colour theory with acrylics or water-based oils, or working on your own projects in your choice of medium, under the guidance of a professional artist. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere and helpful feedback from fellow artists.
Focus on Drawing:
Wednesdays: 9:30am – noon, eight weeks starting October 5th, $250
In this class you will have the option of working with pencil, charcoal or coloured pencil, while learning the skills necessary to draw more accurately and with greater confidence. Emphasis will be on learning, with some finished work being created in the process. This course is designed for both the beginner artist and for those who would like to improve their drawing skills.
Painting – beginner to intermediate:
Wednesdays: 1pm – 3:30 pm, eight weeks starting October 5th, $250
Working in acrylics or water-soluble oils, beginning painters will learn basic colour theory, colour mixing, and composition as a lead-up to creating finished works on canvas. Intermediate students will continue exploring new techniques for creating a variety of painting styles. This course is designed for students who are still fairly new to painting or are switching to acrylics/oils from a different medium.
One-day Workshops:
Painting & Drawing Trees – Saturday, Nov. 5th, 9:30am – 2:30pm, $100
In this workshop we will review the shapes & patterns of different kinds of trees, what makes them unique, and how to portray trees convincingly in your landscape paintings & drawings.
Introduction to Drawing Animals – Saturday, Nov. 12th, 9:30am – 2:30pm, $100
This workshop is designed to help you capture the beauty of wild animals or your favorite pet. We will study the skeletal structure and movements of animals, and how to create the textures of fur, skin or feathers using line & tone.
