Artist DIANA JACKSON (www.dianajackson.ca) will soon be opening her art show at the Stairwell Gallery in the Old Post Office in Almonte, Ontario. This art show, in partnership with guest artist LEAH HICKS (www,leahhicks.com), starts on April 1st and runs until May 31st.
Although DIANA JACKSON is primarily known for her sculpture, jewellery and photography which express the union of technology and the natural world, there is another side of her art that cannot be shown in a gallery and that is her own home on the Indian River in Clayton, Ontario.
Says Diana, “I bought the property in 2001. I was charmed by so much diversity on a 5 acre parcel of land: river, creek, hardwood, river meadow, etc. It’s teaming with life yet within the village of Clayton.
It was during a time in my life of a lot of change. I called the property MERISTEM, a horticultural term which loosely defined means new growth.
In 2003, my husband Doug and I worked with architect PETER MANSFIELD to come up with a design for a house. We moved into the shell (literally) of the house in March of 2004 and have spent the last 11 years finishing and landscaping. Much of the work was done ourselves or by local trades people and artists with many hand built details.”
