Canada-India film crew shooting in Almonte today

The cast and crew of a Canadian-Indian film titled Canadian Tharavu (Canadian Duck) has been shooting in Almonte this weekend. On Sunday afternoon the Barley Mow patio was the main location.

Produced by Ottawa-based Caneast Films Inc., the film is about an Indian man who falls in love with a Canadian-Indian woman and moves to Ottawa to marry her. The Indian cinema website Mollywood Times says about it:

Dileep and Shafi join hands again for another comedy express ride. The title of the movie is officially announced. The laughter merchants’ new venture is Canadian Tharavu, a story takes place in Canada. Dileep plays the love interest for both the heroines Mamtha Mohandas and Namitha in this love triangle…

The story takes a sudden turn of events when Namitha’s character enters the movie claiming Dileep’s real love. Her character was hidden selfishly from the other woman grab the Canada opportunity. The film humorously depicts the following family turmoil between the three and reaches a satisfactory solution for all.

The producers recruited a number of local residents to appear as extras in the film, including members of the Barley Mow serving staff.
