Carolyn Cairns — obituary

Cairns, Carolyn Esther

July 24, 1950 – April 2, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Esther Cairns (nee Dillon) on April 2, 2025, peacefully at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was 74.

Born and raised in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Carolyn was a country girl at heart, most at home on the farm surrounded by four legged friends of all kinds. She had a special connection with animals, and was an unwavering advocate for those in need, often rescuing strays and assisting with rehoming pets. A lifelong cat lover, she was never found without a cat in her lap, and was often adding to her vast collection of cat clothing, ornaments and pictures.

Carolyn was deeply dedicated to her family; the heart of family gatherings, she loved cooking meals and bringing everyone together to visit. She was the devoted soulmate and wife of 54 years to Terry, the much loved mother of Jamie (Pam) and Robyn (Rob), and the beloved grandmother of Ben and Jax. She also leaves behind many cherished pets who adored her.

Generous, kind hearted and a gentle soul, Carolyn will leave behind a lasting legacy that will live on through those who love her.

A private celebration of life with family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s name can be made to Lanark Animal Welfare Society: https://www.lanarkanimals.ca/donations.
