Don’t miss the Zakari Frantz Trio at JazzNhouse!

Trio-380x500Souljazz Orchestra’s alto saxophonist, Zakari Frantz is bringing his Trio to Appleton on September 21st.

Peter Hum, a JazzNhouse “alumnist” as well as an Ottawa Citizen writer and author of JazzBlog.ca  says that Zakari Frantz is “…one of Ottawa’s most fluent and engaging horn players, with a distinctive flair to his performing and original material.”  Originally from Twin Falls, Idaho, Zakari is a musician and educator currently living in Ottawa, Canada. Known best for his early work with guitarist Marcus Eaton and his current role as alto saxophonist and flutist in Canada’s epic groove collective, the Souljazz Orchestra, Zakari has performed on hundreds of stages in over 20 countries throughout North America, UK, Europe, and Scandinavia. He has appeared on dozens of albums and compilations as well as numerous live recordings produced by KLOS (Los Angeles), CBC (Canada), BBC Radio 6 (UK), NTR TV (Netherlands), and Radio Nova (France).  The Souljazz Orchestra itself has on two occasions been nominated for a prestigious Juno Award.

Zakari (http://www.zakarifrantz.com/) is a hard working musician, with a regular gig curating Jazz Mondays at Le Petit Chicago with the rest of his trio –  Joe Hincke on bass and Mike Essoudry on drums.

Joe Hincke (http://www.joehincke.com/) loves to play bass!! He plays, composes and arranges, including with many fine musicians and educators such as John Geggie, Deirdre Piper, James McGowan, William Echard, and Mark Ferguson.  Mike Essoudry is one of Ottawa’s most interesting drummers. His Mash Potato Mashers are well known for their varied musical styles and colourful performances.  How could you not be curious about a track named” influklezma”!!

JazzNhouse is pleased and privileged to kick off its second year of jazz house concert with the Zakari Frantz Trio  The concert will be held in a private home in Appleton (Mississippi Mills), close to Carleton Place. Tickets are $20 per person and seating is limited.  Seating may be requested via the website www.jazzN.ca. Confirmation details and location will be sent by email.
