Fall Greetings from Mill Street Books!

by Mary and Terry Lumsden

As the outdoor chores wrap up, it is a great time to have a stack of books ready to read! The book world is buzzing with book awards, tempting new releases and special events!

Join in our CHEERS for local author Jake Berkowitz who celebrates the launch of his new book Stardust Revolution at the Barley Mow on October 25th at 7:30.

We have arranged a guided wine tasting and lecture by Ottawa Citizen wine columnist Rod Phillips at the Heirloom Bistro Café.  on Monday Nov 5th at 7:30, Tickets are $20 and include wine, appetizers and an informative talk. You will have a chance to start your holiday shopping by purchasing a signed copy of his new book The 500 Best-Value Wines in the LCBO 2013. Seating limited. Call us at 256-9090 to reserve your place!

Our Book Club will meet again Nov 14th at 7:30 to discuss Three Weeks in December. Let me know if you plan to attend so I have enough teacups.

I recently enjoyed Gold Mountain Blues. This hefty book  captures a slice of Canadian history – the experience of a Chinese immigrant who seeks riches in Canada. On the next rainy weekend, I recommend curling up with The Flight of Gemma Hardy.Terry has discovered Lynwood Barclay by reading Trust Your Eyes and loved Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore.
Once again we are the ticket outlet for Almonte in Concert and Folkus. Aren’t we lucky to have amazing music series at our doorstep!

We are lucky to have Debbie McNeill helping us this busy fall season. She is an enthusiastic reader with extensive experience. (Of course Chris is here too!)

I am trying to tidy up our mailing list.  Please confirm you would like to continue receiving our news via gmail or mailchimp.

We love having our business in a great community with a lively downtown. Thanks for your support.
