Film Society drops off gift to the MM Public Library

Members of the Mississippi Mills Film Society Committee paid a visit to the Almonte branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library recently.

We had a great year. Feedback on the movies we screened over the last two seasons has been overwhelmingly positive, and attendance is up.

As a result, we were able to bring a cheque with us in the amount of $2,200 — almost double what we could donate last year. Berta Madrigal Abaroa, CEO, graciously accepted the gift, and was excited to tell us that there was a gap in the budget that can now be filled; they can stroke something special off their wish list.

The Children’s Area in the Almonte branch is getting a revamp! When the summer programs are over, and the kids are back in school, staff will get busy. New furniture and other improvements are in the works, and decisions being made, but since not everything has been decided yet, it will be a lovely surprise.

The Mississippi Mills Film Society gratefully acknowledges our partnership with Film Circuit, presented by TIFF, and its sponsors and supporters, for making this possible. For more information about Film Circuit and to view a full list of their sponsors and supporters, please visit www.tiff.net/filmcircuit.

We are working on putting together our fall season, so keep an eye on our Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/profile.

See you at the movies!
