Close to 70 donors, board members and senior Hospital staff gathered in the Old Fairview Manor dining room on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 7 for a Thanksgiving Donor Reception.

Hosted by Hospital Board Chair Paul Virgin and Hospital and Manor Foundation Chair Art Solomonian, the Foundation’s most generous donors were thanked for their ongoing support. Hospital President & CEO Mary Wilson Trider, who emceed the event, enumerated an impressive list of medical and personal support equipment that was purchased last year with the approximately $250,000 provided through the Foundation.

The new Managing Director of the Foundation, Al Roberts, thanked everyone for the warm welcome he has received since joining the organization in July. Roberts used his opportunity at the podium to interview the Hospital’s Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Bahaa Awwad, about the exciting future he sees for the growing program.

Dr. Awwad, who came to Almonte General Hospital in January of this year, expressed his pride in being a member of the AGH team.   Key investments in Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, and Anaesthesia by the Hospital will help to achieve his vision for increasing the number of births in the Birthing Unit (Ranked #1 in Ontario for patient satisfaction) and developing a more comprehensive Women’s Health program.
