Happily retired – book review

by Edith Cody-Rice

This book, first published in 2009, is a practical little guide and would be a good gift for anyone about to retire as well as for those newly retired. It reviews what to expect and some coping strategies. The authors, Julie Chahal and Linda Lucas, themselves retired early – in their forties. They are realistic about retirement life and their style is fresh, not pedantic.

The authors identify the qualities of pleasure, engagement and meaning as those which will make a satisfying life and relate some personal experiences. Neither are health professionals or counsellors, but they provide practical advice and resources that make an interesting read.

Happily retired is available at Paper Thin in Almonte. For more locations where the book may be found visit www.happily-retired.com
