Help send local dance students to perform at Disney World

DanceThe Almonte Academy of Dance has the opportunity to send a group of dancers to Disney in Orlando, Florida.  A team of eleven dancers will be representing Almonte on July 6-10, 2016.  These dancers will be dancing in the afternoon Disney parade at Epcot.  In addition, they will be performing one of their competitive numbers on stage.  This performance will showcase dancers from around the world.  It will be an opportunity for the Almonte team to be able to meet other dancers from a variety of studios and share their dance experience and enthusiasm.  This is a once in a lifetime experience and we are very proud that Almonte Academy of Dance has this opportunity to showcase its talented team.

This group began the fundraising journey in 2014 with a yard and bake sale in the parking lot of Almonte Academy of Dance.  The fundraising goal is to be able to cover the expense of sending each dancer to Disney.  The team has been busy holding a golf tournament, selling wreaths and chocolate bars.   Patrice’s YIG opened their parking lot to the kids for a car wash and bake sale.  Byron Wilson, brother of one of girls on the Disney Dance team, and some of his friends graciously provided entertainment for last year’s “Gender Illusions Show”.

The team has almost reached their goal and has planned two more fundraisers.  We will be holding a bake sale in front of Rexall on February 6 The dance families involved will be busy baking a variety of loaves, cookies, muffins and fudge.  The bake sale will be from 10am-2pm and another fundraising show is planned for February 27 at the Carleton Place Arena. The night will be filled with dazzling performances by the “Extreme Fabulettes” who will showcase their incredible talent and humour.  The doors will open at 7 pm and the show will be begin at 8 pm.  A light lunch will be provided and the show will be around three hours.

This is a licensed adult only event.  Tickets are $20 per person and are available by contacting Almonte Academy of Dance at 613-791-1890.
