An Ottawa Citizen story reports that Councillor Bernard Cameron was shot to death today in Almonte by his daughter’s former partner, identified as Travis Porteous, 33, of Carleton Place. From the Citizen:
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the Cameron’s $1.3-million home, registered to both Bernard and his wife, Catherine, around 7:30 a.m. Inside the Tudor-style home, once used as a set for a 2006 television movie starring Tori Spelling, officers found the body of Bernard, 65. His 28-year-old daughter Sarah Cameron had also been shot and suffered what police called “life-threatening injuries.”
Sarah Cameron’s former common-law partner and the father of their two children, Travis Porteous, 33, of nearby Carleton Place was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police sources say. Both were taken to different hospitals, one airlifted. Early Thursday evening, police confirmed Porteous had died and that Cameron was in stable condition in hospital.
