Between Monday 20 February 2017 and Monday 27 January 2017 officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 277 calls for service.

The calls included:

Traffic Enforcement

At 11:35 pm on Monday 20th February officers saw a westbound Hyundai Elantra traveling at a high speed on Highway 7 in Drummond North Elmsley Township. The vehicle was stopped. As a result of further investigation the driver, Steven CLOSE (44 years) of North Crosby was charged,

  • speeding. (114kph in a 80kph posted zone).
  • fail to apply for permit (on becoming owner.)
  • use plate not authorized for vehicle.
  • operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

At 01:08 am on Tuesday 21st February officers saw a Dodge Ram fail to make a controlled left turn onto Clyde Street in the Town of Perth. The vehicle spun and stopped sideways in the street. Heidi DENT (18 years) of The Town of Perth was charged with;

  • careless driving.
  • driving while under suspension.

At 01:20 pm on Wednesday 22nd February on McNeely Avenue in the Town of Carleton Place, officers stopped a Mazda car in relation to the licence plates attached to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Thomas OOSTROM (51) of The Municipality of Mississippi Mills was charged with,

  • drive under suspension.

The passenger and registered owner of the vehicle, Debra SAUVE (46 years) of The Municipality of Mississippi Mills, was charged with,

  • permit motor vehicle to be operated with no insurance, contrary to the compulsory automobile insurance act.

Domestic Incidents

Two Domestic Assault investigations continue in the Town of Carleton Place and the Township of Lanark Highlands.

Another incident related to child custody issues and advice while 5 others involved to misuse of social media, instant messaging or other forms of potential harassment.

Break and Enters

Between Friday 10th February and Thursday 23rd February person(s) unknown forced entry to a storage out building on Markle Road in the Township of Lanark Highlands and stole vehicle parts and gasoline. Damage was caused on entry and to property inside the building.

Thefts

Thieves were active over the night of Monday the 20th February and Tuesday 21st February in both the Town of Perth and Town of Carleton Place, where unlocked vehicles were entered and property stolen. Three incidents were reported in each town.

In Carleton Place the property stolen included a wallet and contents (including personal identification), a lap top computer and a camera and two cell phones, while in Perth thefts included cash, two lap top computers and a wallet and contents.

No damage was caused entering any of the vehicles.
