Man drowns at Appleton

Members of the OPP responded to a report of a missing fisherman in the Mississippi River at Appleton on Saturday, June 28.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched after a 34-year-old male, who had been fishing while wearing hip waders, was reported to have gone under the water and not resurfaced. Extensive surface searches were conducted throughout the evening using drones and specialized units.

On Monday morning, the man’s body was located and recovered by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.

The OPP thanks the public and emergency partners for their cooperation and assistance.
