Beddoes (nee Wacker), Priscilla Iris
Passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025 at Oakwood Manor, Victoria, British Columbia. Born in Reading, England 1931. Devoted wife to John Michael Beddoes who predeceased her Christmas Day 2017. Cherished mother of Ursula (Ralf), Jonathan (Judy), Rebecca (Rory) and Matthew. Proud grandmother of Arden, Paul, Cameron, Amanda, Hamish, Meagan and Kyle; and joyous great-grandmother of Harlan, Alister, Margaret, Sophie and Lachlan. Predeceased by brothers Victor and Robin.
Priscilla and John met at choir practice in England and shared a love of music throughout their 66 years of marriage. Emigrating to Canada in 1957, their last home together was a small hobby farm in Almonte, Ontario where Priscilla raised champion dachshunds and shelties, and competed her border collies in agility events. Priscilla was happiest with a warm puppy or lamb in her lap. First learning to knit as a young girl for the war effort, Priscilla gifted many hundreds of socks and later enjoyed spinning and weaving, completing, from fleece, a fine tweed jacket for John.
The family wish to extend profound thanks to Yolanda for her companionship and affectionate care she gave Priscilla; to the health care team and thoughtful staff of Oakwood Manor, Victoria, BC; to Dr Heather Abramenko of Almonte, Ontario for her enduring care and friendship; and as well to friends and community of Almonte for much kindness, helping Priscilla to enjoy her farm and animals.
For those wishing to honour Priscilla with a memorial donation, please consider an animal welfare charity.
